“Let all writers have their due esteem, but compare none of them with the Word of God. We will not refuse their service but we must abhor them as rivals or competitors.” — Richard Baxter, The Reformed Pastor

Greetings!
We are grateful to see the progress of many past students as well as so many inquiries from new students who are eager to be equipped to counseling in the local church. 2023 should be exciting and busy! Here are a few updates about what’s coming from BCEV as well as helpful resources.
The 2022 ACBC Conference. In just a few days, thousands of biblical counselors will gather in Memphis for ACBC’s annual conference. This year’s theme is “In His Image” and seeks to address a variety of controversial issues related to the doctrine of Imago Dei.
Omri Miles, our training center director, will be teaching a breakout session titled, “Doxological Counseling: How the Glory of God Impacts Counseling Philosophy and Practice”. If you can’t attend in person, you can still register to attend virtually here.
2023 Fundamentals class. We are currently planning our next Phase 1 — Fundamentals class. That class will take place in the Spring, so be on the look out for more details soon!
Phase 2 — Exams resources. We have heard from several past students who are working on completing their theology and counseling exams. This is thrilling! Keep up the good work! Hopefully, this process is refining your thinking about Scripture and how to bring its divine wisdom to bear on the lives of those in need of God’s timeless words.
If you’re looking for additional help in answering the exam questions, check out Northcreek Counseling Training. Several helpful videos from their ACBC Exam Class can be viewed here.
May the Lord bless your labors for His great name’s sake,
Omri Miles,
Grace Bible Church Pastor/Elder and Training Center Director,
on behalf of Biblical Counseling of the East Valley
