The Christian’s i·den·ti·ty

6.The Christian’s identity is a life that is marked by love (1 Timothy 1:5)

The aim of our charge is love that issues from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith

(ESV)

The aim of Paul’s charge to Timothy was to command the church to love.

This is the love of choice and the will, characterized by self-denial and self-sacrifice for the benefit of others, and it is the mark of a true Christian.  This love comes from the person who knows what is right and pleasing to the Lord.  It is also a mark of a believer who’s faith is rooted in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The question you must ask yourself is this:   Is my life marked by a self-sacrificing love for others?  Do I willing to prefer others?
